What is Success?

CAREER SUCCESS GUIDE
January 2008
Dear Jsidufh,

What is Success?

Good question...does someone have the answer?  Success is such an ever changing variable.  When we think of our success, in most cases we know what it is that will spell out a successful lifestyle, or career, or goal.  There may be a hundred ways to reach success.  But at the end of the day, we should be able to say that we have reached a state of mind or condition that required a stretch - - it had to be something almost out of our reach.

A young child sees a package of candy tucked high up on the kitchen shelf.  She knows that, with some degree of effort, she may be able to reach the candy - - and can barely wait to taste the chocolate!  How many kids have taken their first tumble trying to reach for something delightful?  How many adults?

Last weekend, my parents celebrated their 53nd wedding anniversary with their adult children and grandkids. Success, for my parents, involved getting a household of five kids into college (and law school, and medical school, and graduate schools) and out of the house without too much damage.  Almost unattainable for an African American couple who started their family in 1955 - -  and yet, worth the tumble.

What are you reaching for this year?  In your hands, what will feel like sucess?  Don't let the thought - - or the inevitable grasp of success - - slip away.

Part 2: Don't Give Up!

For those who are currently seeking a new position, I realize that this is a tough time.  I would encourage you to keep on track and not lose focus this month. this is the time to begin "feeding" your personal and business network.   Get back in touch with contacts via email, phone, or mail; send industry updates; share personal information.  Most importantly, show some interest in what's happening in their world.  Our network requires ongoing maintenance and "feeding" to ensure we keep it alive and functional.

If you'd like to check out a complimentary E-Consultation regarding job searching in December, then take a moment to listen right now.  And in the meantime, I extend best wishes to you!

Affordable E-Consultation Services

If you're seeking a new position or career
... then, let's face the truth:  most professionals seeking new positions generally understand the steps needed to begin a job search.  You make some changes to your resume, you contact a couple of people in your network (friends, recruiters, associates, etc.),  you check out the internet job boards, and you begin to circulate your resume.  And then you wait.... and wait....

It's also likely that you're still attempting to hold onto a position  that no longer fits your interests or qualifications.  Still working a full work week and finding that you have minimal time to effectively search for a new job.  Everyone's saying that you need to devote full-time hours to find a new job.  And you're thinking "who has the time?"

I have consulted with many job seekers who wanted to know the most efficient way to manuever through the black holes, the roadblocks, and land a new job.  So, I have created  career  and job search consultation packages that provide timely career advice in a format that takes only a few minutes of your time.

How do E-Consultations work?  The Beacon E-Consultation Service is designed to give you more personalized advice than you'll ever find in a book or article.  An E-Consultation will help you:

  - Customize the best strategy to use all available resources to land a new job
  - Build and sustain your own personal network to help you access the right job
  - Discover hidden pathways to getting desired job interviews
  - Master the key stages associated with job interviews

Through my E-Consultation Service, we will work to ensure you can focus on what's important to you:  getting a new position.

You can select the most convenient package based on your needs:  1 Day E-Consultation; 15 Day E-Consultation; or 30 Day E-Consultation.
