When I refer to the word 'achiever,' the definition can be as broad, or as specific, as you prefer.  As a mom or dad, do you feel that you've achieved milestones in the area of raising a family?  As a manager, do you believe that others in your organization can pinpoint you as being one of the top achievers? The achievement measure may be an internal or external one; and it's timeframe could span a day....or even a couple of years. 
 
Achievement requires some agreed upon measure that allows a person to excel above and beyond all possible barriers.  If you're currently searching for a new position or career, then of course the ultimate achievement is securing a new position that closely matches your interests and goals.  But, as it is with most journeys, be aware that you're still achieving even before you reach the ultimate goal of getting a new job.  Don't overlook the value of self-assessment, networking, and goal clarity during a job search.  These are markers that serve to refine your perspective and self-awareness. 
 
Job searching is tough work.  You have to market your capabilities to a stranger during a one-hour interview - - if you get an interview.  But, it's highly likely that you've accomplished, or achieved, so many goals prior to the interview - - and now is the time to talk proudly about them.
