Have You Created a Vision for Your Career?

CAREER SUCCESS GUIDE
September 2008

Dear Jsidufh,

Have You Created a Vision for Your Career?

We all know that a well designed job search or career plan requires knowing yourself and where you want to end up. As the central character in this strategy, you're the one who has to articulate your vision, capture your success stories, devise the steps needed to secure an interview, target desired companies, research each company to ensure they fit your interests and goals, and get the interview. We have to know what it is that we're seeking to be effective.

A key element to career success, is capturing your success stories. Similar to placing pictures in a photo album or scrapbook, you should be able to commemorate the activities and milestones that matter to you. You can write them down in your planner, put them in your resume, or file them for future reference. Save letters written by your boss which congratulate you on a job well done - - don't throw away press clippings about your promotion. Your success stories should provide a picture of your momentum towards career goal achievement. Additionally, they provide a back drop of who you are and help you respond to job interview questions with a good deal of confidence.

Recently, I received an email from a business associate who wanted to proudly share a recent promotion within a major corporation. Since I've known this professional for over ten years and have heard him speak of his Career Vision, I recognized how valuable his stepping stones mean to him. His careful preparation, and planned risk-taking, was leading him to career success that had personal value to him and his family. When necessary he had made adjustments and changed jobs, but he kept focused on achieving the big picture. He regularly shares not only his career success stories - - but also his personal or family achievements as well.

Your Career Vision should be based on what you would absolutely love to do within your career - - and the reality in which you operate. If you take some time to weed out the irrelevant data, and reconfigure the end results if neccessary, you'll end up with a winning formula for your own personal success. Within this formula, your success stories should help clarify your strengths and the path you're pursuing.

Have You Created a Career Vision that will help you in your job search or career?  Then, let's begin working together to help you achieve your goals. Get more information at the Beacon Career Management website and we can get started today.  I look forward to working with you.

Affordable E-Consultation Services

If you're seeking a new position or career
... then, let's face the truth:  most professionals seeking new positions generally understand the steps needed to begin a job search.  You make some changes to your resume, you contact a couple of people in your network (friends, recruiters, associates, etc.),  you check out the internet job boards, and you begin to circulate your resume.  And then you wait.... and wait....

It's also likely that you're still attempting to hold onto a position  that no longer fits your interests or qualifications.  Still working a full work week and finding that you have minimal time to effectively search for a new job.  Everyone's saying that you need to devote full-time hours to find a new job.  And you're thinking "who has the time?"

I have consulted with many job seekers who wanted to know the most efficient way to manuever through the black holes, the roadblocks, and land a new job.  So, I have created career and job search consultation services that provide timely career advice in a format that takes only a few minutes of your time.

How do E-Consultations work?  The Beacon E-Consultation Service is designed to give you more personalized advice than you'll ever find in a book or article.  Also, the 1-Day service provides professional service at a highly affordable rate ($35.00).  Request and receive a comprehensive, 40+ page assessment of your current job search.  Included in this assessment is professional advice designed to help you:
  • effectively organize your job search strategy

  • answer any type of job interview question
  • conduct your job search on the internet  (job boards, social networking sites, etc.)
  • shorten your job search
