| | | | Hi Isodifj, We wish you a wonderful holiday season.
Over 20 years ago, this was the time of year when I gave notice at a job I was miserable in. Looking back, one of the bravest things I ever did was face the fear that came with changing careers. At the time, I was terrified of leaving behind what was familiar and safe, even though I knew deep down I had to make a change.
I remember thinking — and other people asking me — “What if I fail?”, “Why can’t I just be happy that I have a job?”, along with the usual doubts we hear from our clients. But instead of letting those questions stop me, I let them guide me. I asked myself what I would regret more: Trying something new, or staying where I was. That clarity helped me step forward, and it ended up becoming the most defining transition of my professional life. I’ll be honest: Even though my favorite quote is “The greatest risk in life is not taking one,” I took baby steps. I had to take care of myself financially and be smart about my transition. But, I did it. I knew that, at the end of my life, I wanted to say I tried — even if I failed — versus saying I didn't try at all.
