Happy Spring Isodifj,
Early in my career, I took a job even though I knew I shouldn't. (Yes, this happened to me, too!) One of the requirements? Wearing pantyhose. It sounds minor, but I can't stand pantyhose. I grew up in South Florida, where it was too hot to have to wear them. (I didn't wear them for my 53rd birthday this month, either, when we visited with a friend of a friend's horse.) | | | |
I ignored that instinct—and later realized the pantyhose weren’t really the issue. Several things about the role and environment were not the right fit. The "pantyhose issue" was simply a signal that the job didn’t align with who I was, and I knew I had to do something about it.
Spring is a great time to reflect and do a little career cleaning. What’s still working for you? What feels outdated? And what is it time to let go of? Sometimes, small signals are worth paying attention to.
