CAREER SUCCESS GUIDE February 2008 | Dear Jsidufh, Tell Me About Yourself Here in the northeast, we're snowed in (no school, the kids are happy) and our typical work week routine has been disrupted. I'm thinking that this is an excellent time to complete this newsletter before the weekend. Some of you may decide to use this time to rev up your job search. Or, maybe you have an upcoming job interview and want to prepare for it (even better). Assuming that you have appropriately prepared yourself, then the interview should be easy. However, despite all of the preparation, even the best of us falter when facing a hiring manager or human resources staffperson in a job interview. It is one thing to outline who you are on a piece of paper (the resume), it is something else to actually explain who you are in person and face-to-face with another person. The one question most of us dread having to answer is: "Tell me about yourself." Do they want to know where you previously worked..or where you were born? I mean, there are just so many ways to go with that unbelievably dreaded question. Here is a quick tip: the "tell me about yourself" question is simply a request for you to "tell me why you are sitting here, today, interviewing for this specific job?" That is it, nothing more. To get more job interview tips click here for a brief web-based guide. If you'd like to check out a complimentary E-Consultation regarding job searching, then take a moment to listen right now. And in the meantime, I extend best wishes to you! | | | _________________________________________________________ Affordable E-Consultation Services If you're seeking a new position or career... then, let's face the truth: most professionals seeking new positions generally understand the steps needed to begin a job search.
