Dear Jsidufh,
Here's the best job search advice in one sentence: Your resume is NOT the key. Yes, I emphasized the word "not." If you have been waiting for your resume to help you get into job interviews, then you may be wasting valuable time. The typical job seeker usually decides that they have to find the jobs that are available- - the ones listed on job boards, in the newspaper, etc. This is a comfortable path to follow; it's one that we have tried over and over again. However, if you want to find a more direct path to a job interview, then your best bet is to uncover jobs that are unadvertised. It's a known fact that 80% or more of available positions are not posted, so it's important to target your job search to access and directly link with specific opportunities and hiring managers. |
