Some changes take longer than others. The key is to keep your eye on the ball and never lose sight of that end goal. Luke returned to school to complete his a degree in a new major before he's able to get into the computer intelligence and security industry, and... he's doing it. Congratulations Luke! What you discover could be very revealing! Career Corner Start the New Year Off With New Traditions Happy New Year! It’s that time again where we’re all setting goals and resolutions for ourselves, but will they last? This year, why don’t you try something different? Instead of setting unrealistic expectations for yourself, start by creating new traditions that you’ll be able to do year after year. Now you may ask, "What does this have to do with my career?" If you establish meaningful traditions that are aligned with your goals and your values, they should help bring meaning and positive energy to your every day life. This can help you find fulfillment and happiness in ways that ordinary resolutions won't. Here are two traditions that can help you get started: Memory Jar - One great idea that I’ve heard about is to create a jar that you can fill with your memories throughout the year. Start this year off with an empty jar, then as you create new memories and good things happen to you, write them down on a little piece of paper and keep them in your jar. At the end of the year on New Year's Eve, open your jar and take some time to reflect on all of the wonderful things that happened to you this year. This is a really great idea, that will help you start each year with a positive mindset. Money Jar - Another idea I like is to start the New Year with an empty jar that you can fill with your change throughout the year. Instead of this money going towards a cruise or a shopping spree, at the end of the year choose a charity or a person that you can give the money too anonymously. The concept of saving all throughout the year to bless somebody else really can bring meaning to your life. Take these two ideas, or come up with your own traditions that will make your year more positive and meaningful. Having a positive attitude can bring fulfillment to all areas of your life, whether it's your career, relationships, or personal well being. Keep these traditions so that you will have something to look back to and reflect on year after year. *Would you like help with identifying your ideal career?
