It is time to surround yourself with those you love to help you on your career journey, and... love your career! Our Career Corner article will help you do that :) This is a photo of my mom, sister and I climbing Stone Mountain recently. We had a ball and it was great time spent with those I love. I remind myself regularly to reach out to those I love for support because sometimes I try too hard to go at it alone. This past year was especially trying for me as I got divorced and the support of friends and family helped enormously. This has resulted in a fulfilling engagement for both identifying my bliss and mapping out my professional future.” When you’re looking for your dream job, you can’t be too focused. Take the journey step by step. Remember that the focus will come over time, after you’ve evaluated your criteria for the best fit for you. Once you find it, stay laser focused on it. It can be easy to get off track again. Set reminders on your calendar, put posts about your vision for your ideal career where you can see them, do whatever it takes to remind you of the direction you want to head. Career Corner Falling out of your job, into one you love It’s hard to believe that Valentine’s Day is already approaching. Even though it can be cheesy, it’s nice to set aside time to reflect on the people in our lives whom we love. Just like relationships, it is important to take time to reflect on your career every now and then. Are you in a job that you truly love? Having a career that you really love can bring fulfillment and happiness into your life. A career is a lot like a relationship. It takes time, passion, commitment, and a lot of hard work. That is why you should know whether or not you are investing into the right career. So, how do you know when enough is enough? When do you make the decision to leave your job for your ideal career? Only you can make that decision, but here are some questions that can help you figure out when the time might be right for you: -
Are you happy to get out of bed in the morning and motivated to get started on your daily work tasks? -
Does your job challenge you and help you grow in your abilities? -
Does your job bring purpose into your life? -
Is your job aligned with your values? -
Are you able to utilize your talents and skill set at work? If you answered ‘no’ to most of these questions, it might be time for you to begin your career transition process. Keep in mind that even your dream job will have some rough days, but if most days are bad, then something has to change. It can be scary starting a career transition, but it’s important to stay focused on what you want long-term. Just know that it’s always worth the effort to find happiness and fulfillment in your life. *Would you like help with identifying your ideal career?
